Dismissed

dismissed in a moment
he pondered the why of it

as the suits looked past him
in the veined marble hall

his mind spiraled down a hole
 seeking solace in sleep

Written for Red Wolf Poems Wordle #25.  The words are holes, hall, sleeping, spiral, moment, dismissed, looked, suits, pondered, veined, solace.  I used some form of all the words.

    This really nailed a moment.

Those veined marble halls… I was just watching a show about Fort Knox. And there was a gent who pretty much out of the blue was asked to work there, helping with an inventory. Said he stayed there for over 15 years working. And then one day he was called and said was no longer employed. Even if you haven’t watch the program – your piece seems to fit his circumstance.

One thing he did mention was that there were always guards, everywhere, a uniform is a suit, yes.

Thanks for stopping by, and providing a great list.

  3. Suzanne says:

You really captured the emotions of a difficult moment on life’s journey here.

  4. I enjoy that descending feeling toward the end…nicely wordled, Sabra. 🙂
